A Guide to Diamond Color Scales

The four Cs are four different labels used to describe diamonds. One of the Cs stands for color. In this video, you can learn a little bit about the diamond color scales and how each level differs from the next.

The scale uses the alphabet to classify various colors of diamonds:

  •  D-E-F: These are colorless stones that are the priciest and most expensive.
  • G-H-I: These diamonds are whiter and are called nearly colorless. These make up a majority of diamonds seen on the market.
  • J-K-L: These diamonds have a slight tinge that gives them a faint yellow color.
  • M–Z: The remaining letters get darker and darker as they continue down the alphabet.
